Occupational burnout, resulting from chronic workplace stress, is associated with exhaustion, disengagement and reduced professional efficacy according to the World Health Organization. Burnout is very common in healthcare professionals, affecting around 11% of nurses and 30% of physicians worldwide, with higher rates in emergency care and mental health professionals. Burnout has adverse consequences for professionals, being one of the primary reasons for prolonged sickness absence, and also results in poorer quality of care and increased job turnover.
UpLift4Work is an innovative approach to managing occupational burnout. It is a digital health platform designed to help healthcare professionals to learn, practise and master coping strategies proven to reduce burnout and to enhance psychological wellbeing. The platform includes instructional videos, case studies and interactive tasks to support users to overcome burnout and to achieve a better work-life balance. The content is organised into six modules that can be covered across six weeks, or at a faster or slower pace depending on the user’s preferences.
